Over the years, I have discovered the secret to creating personal development plans that are inspiring and that work! It is a 3 step process that anyone can do.

If you are serious about changing your life, steal 2 hours from your busy day; grab a pen, a notebook and a coffee; and follow the three step process outlined below.

Step 1 is the most important step because you can only reach your dreams when you know what your dreams are! I live in a perfectly comfortable house with a huge grassy garden for my family.

The house feels open and spacious. There is easy access to water for swimming and a beautiful view of the sunset from the porch. The area is safe and quiet with easy access to amazing motorbike riding experiences. We live close enough to civilization to be convenient and far enough away to have a sense of space. I am a global thought leader in an area that I m passionate and curious about. Every week, I inspire people to be even more than they already are and to follow their dreams.

Before you do this step you must have written a compelling vision statement for yourself in each of the 8 life areas see step 1. Once you have done that, you are ready to set 6-month goals that link with each vision statement. You may be surprised at how quickly you can achieve a vision statement. Before you do this step you must have written clear goals for each of your vision statements see step 2.

Once you have done that, you are ready to develop a weekly routine for yourself. If you want to have a separate project plan, which lists all of the detailed things you need to do to get the blog built, that is fine. In that case, you would simply work through your project plan during the allotted time in your weekly schedule. It is essential to keep your weekly routine the same for 6 months because we learn through repetition.

By repeating the same schedule over and over for a log period of time you learn it so well that it eventually becomes second nature and easier to stick to! This heightened conscious awareness of how you spend your time each week helps you to see how smart your time spending choices really are.

Is most of your week spent in aligment with your vision statements? If the motivation is not there, you may have some incongruencies with what you think you want and what you really desire deep down. A personal development plan is a document that defines: These uninspiring plans sit in a drawer and collect dust, while your dreams stay on hold. Personal Development Planning That Works Over the years, I have discovered the secret to creating personal development plans that are inspiring and that work!

Step 1 — Vision Statements Step 1 is the most important step because you can only reach your dreams when you know what your dreams are! How to Write Vision Statements Write as much or as little as you need to, to build a compelling, ideal picture of how you would like each area of your life to be. Do you want to move ahead to the next stage in your career?

Do you want to get a better job? The first step is to define goals that are really importan t to you. Out of all goals you wrote down, which one is the most important? This is your key goal which will be your focus.

Maybe you want a career change or you want to achieve a good physical shape or acquire some new skills. Are there any transferable skills skills which you can transfer to different areas of life that would be important for your success? For example, if you improve speaking skills, the result can be more confidence, better relationships and communication with others, and even business success e.

The purpose of a personal development plan is to help you expand your knowledge, develop new skills, or improve important areas of life. Take a good look at your list and select one goal which is the most important to you and that you will work on first.

Also, if you are planning to achieve a big project in a very short period of time, again, chances are it will not happen. Be serious about it. If you are not the one who is taking your plan seriously, nobody else will either. You can also define how you will reward yourself when you manage to achieve your goal. Even if you are not a talented singer, actor, or artist, you can still be a good parent, excellent listener, or a caring person.

Maybe you will be surprised with their answers. Your key strengths are something what makes you unique and special. No one can ever take that from you. Are you a well-organized, patient, persistent, outgoing, intelligent, brave, fast-learner, talented, open-minded…? Once you understand what your strengths are, write down which of these strengths can help you to achieve your goal.

For example, if your goal is to live years, then you need to stop smoking, stop buying junk food, stop worrying about things, etc. On the other hand, there are some new actions that are opportunities for you to achieve goals much easier. What actions can you choose to start doing that will help you to achieve your goal? If you want to save more money, then for example you can start managing your money, you can start writing down your expenses, you can start spending less, etc. Create a start doing and stop doing list!

A personal development plan is a plan for how to get from the place you are now to the place where you want to be. For example, if your goal is to move ahead to the next stage in your career, you will have to learn new skills.

If you want to start your own business, you will have to learn about marketing, sales, entrepreneurship, finances, etc. For everything you want in life, there is a price you must pay, in full and in advance. You must become someone whom you have never been before. Decide what it is and start paying that price today. In other words, to achieve something you have never achieved before, you need to develop skills you have never had before and start working on those skills as soon as possible.

Write down the list of the skills you need to develop, which will help you achieve your goal. Write down at least most important actions you will need to take within your defined timeframe. For example, if you want to change your career, you can consider talking with a career adviser; if you want to lose weight, you can have a fitness coach; if you want to improve your finances, you can talk with a financial adviser….

List anyone who you can think of who would be able to help you to achieve your goal. The best motivator to stay persistent in achieving goals is your own progress. Even if it is a little progress, it is still something. It is important to recognize that you are moving forward and to write down things that you are doing well. If something is not going well, that means that you need to change or improve the strategies you are using. By doing the same things, you will be getting the same results.
